What you’ll be doing
Have you ever wanted the chance to shape and develop the product you’re working on? We have an exciting opportunity leading a team to conceive, develop and deliver a bestselling product line. Focusing particularly on the Laurence King imprint, you will work on a range of jigsaw puzzles, card decks, board games and books, helping the team develop innovative new products.

You will be a team lead in the Orion Art department reporting into the Creative Director, developing high quality, inventive solutions that delight our customers. There is an opportunity for the role to extend across other Orion imprints, too, covering both fiction and nonfiction publishing. You will work with our editors to develop concepts, as well as leading a team of designers to create the finished products. You will commission illustrators, freelance designers and occasionally photographers to help you deliver your goals. You will collaborate with your stakeholders, communicating effectively to ensure your work aligns with the editorial team’s strategy and the sales team’s routes to market.
Skills and experience required:
- Delivering creative solutions for branding and packaging
- Project management
- Product development (preferred but not essential)
- Briefing external illustrators, photographers and designers
- Managing a team
- Understanding of the digital and print production process
- Exceptional Adobe Creative Suite skills
With a proactive, problem-solving attitude, you will be adept at creating inspiring products, predicting issues and interpreting feedback. The role will suit someone who is looking to grow their skills and their experience through exposure to a wide range of design outputs and the design practice of fellow Art Directors.
