Assessment Publisher / Senior Commissioning Editor – Parental Leave Cover, Hodder Education

What you’ll be doing

RS Assessment from Hodder Education is looking for a Publisher / Senior Commissioning Editor (Parental Leave) to contribute to the growth of our assessment list during one of the most exciting times in our history. The role will have responsibility for commissioning new products (print and digital) to further enhance our assessment offering. Developing commercially sound business cases for new products based on customer feedback will be at the core of this role, as will the successful management of work in progress to agreed schedules and budgets. The role will also be responsible for the commercial success of the existing product range, being the in-house expert for a number of series.

Who we’re looking for

The successful candidate will have at least two years’ commissioning experience which demonstrates both an ability to understand customer need and turn this in to successful commercial offers, alongside longer-term list building. Experience of managing a range of complex projects at different stages through to completion, ensuring timely and profitable publications, is essential. They will also have a keen awareness of the impact of technology and data on customers and how to embed this in a customer-focused product offer, through to maximising external partnerships. The list spans primary and secondary therefore awareness of trends in the UK education market, government policy applying to assessment, and relevant contacts is desirable.

We are looking for candidates who are analytical, flexible and responsive, and who have the imagination and desire to deliver reliable, straight-forward products that support teachers. For this parental leave cover we are looking for prior experience of commissioning and developing assessments, preferably for schools.
