Assistant Management Accountant, Octopus Publishing Group

Octopus is a leading publisher of non-fiction books, made up of several different imprints each with their own identity.  We have extensive experience of working with high profile authors, trusted partners and associations to produce exciting, market leading books.

An opportunity has arisen to join the Finance department of Octopus Publishing Group as Assistant Management Accountant.

What you’ll be doing

Working as part of a small team, the purpose of the role is to assist in the preparation of the management accounts and fulfilling group reporting requirements, in addition to producing reports for the business including, sales reports.  The job also involves assisting the team with elements of the budget and reforecast.  Other responsibilities include working closely with stock control and accounts payable teams, assisting Editorial and Sales teams with ad hoc analysis and preparation for divisional audits.

Who we’re looking for

This is a varied position that requires excellent attention to detail and the ability to work with a systematic approach.  The successful candidate will be quick to learn, showing lots of initiative and self-motivation.  Strong communication and organisational skills are required, with the ability to meet strict deadlines and an aptitude for manipulating figures (including solid Excel skills).  Candidates should be in the early stages of or looking to start studying towards a relevant accountancy qualification.
