Production Controller, Digital and Corelist, Headline and Quercus

Please Note: The application deadline for this job has now passed.

Who we are and what we do

Headline has spent over three decades creating books people want to read.  Our passion for the commercial means we are home to some of the UK’s biggest-selling authors and we continue to invest in new talent with bestseller potential.  Among those authors are Martina Cole, Maggie O’Farrell, Dorothy Koomson and a roster of comedians, chefs and media personalities including Nadiya Hussain, James Acaster and Raymond Blanc.

Now in its sixteenth year, Quercus is a vibrant, creative publisher of both commercial and literary fiction and non-fiction. From fiction bestsellers such as The Girl Before and The Flatshare, to Layla Saad’s Me and White Supremacy in non-fiction and the four-colour hits Boys Who Dare to be Different and Norwegian Wood, we pride ourselves on finding the best books, wherever they are in the world, and bringing them to the widest possible audience.

Headline and Quercus are divisions of Hachette UK.

What you’ll be doing

We have a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to gain knowledge and experience in digital and print publishing within a busy and friendly production team.  As Production Controller - Digital and Corelist, you will co-ordinate the production of the Headline and Quercus backlists, both print and digital.  In this busy and varied role, you will work across the whole list and in close collaboration with various internal departments, notably editorial, inventory management and group digital and our suppliers.  You will provide technical support for the wider Production team, identifying and exploring developing digital technologies, devices and platforms, and ensuring our eBook design, functionality and accessibility features are all excellent.

Who we’re looking for

Our ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, with a can-do attitude and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. You will be highly efficient and an excellent communicator, with a proven ability to manage your time effectively, prioritise and work well under pressure. Some experience demonstrating reliability and responsibility and a genuine interest in technology and innovation is needed, but prior experience in the publishing industry is not necessary.
