Publishing Executive, Bookouture

Please Note: The application deadline for this job has now passed.

Who we are and what we do

Bookouture is Britain’s hottest digital publisher of commercial fiction. We believe that the best publishing happens with care, creativity and attention to detail and we apply this philosophy to every part of the publishing process: from editing and packaging, to metadata, pricing and marketing.

What you’ll be doing

This is a busy and varied role involving all of the following elements and more:

Editing and publishing: supporting our editors to ensure that our books are the very best they can be, checking copy edits and proofreads, communicating with authors on publication plans and sales, working alongside editors on copywriting, packaging and metadata.

Book creation and distribution: doing ebook conversions, keeping our ebooks updated and error-free, clearing images for book covers and assisting our Digital Operations Manager with ebook distribution.

Awards and events: submitting our books for awards and helping to organise meetings and events.

Who we’re looking for

We are looking for someone who is organised, creative, efficient, and good at prioritising a varied workload. Some experience in a publishing environment is preferred, but not essential.

We are looking not only for great publishing talent, but for people who make a habit of improving the way things are done, who embrace change and who enjoy applying science and tech to creativity

What we offer

Bookouture is an exciting, dynamic and fun place to work. In this role, as well as gaining experience of the whole editorial process, you will learn everything that goes into making a digital bestseller. Based in King’s Cross, we offer flexible working to all employees.

Our Commitment

Hachette employs people on the basis of their abilities. We aim to attract and develop talent from a base as broad as the world of readers we want to reach, with a wide and representative range of age, faith, disability, race, gender, sexuality and socio-economic, regional and cultural backgrounds.

If you are shortlisted and need us to make any adjustments to help you attend for interview, please let us know.
