This is an exciting opportunity to join the rights department at Hodder & Stoughton, Headline, John Murray Press and Quercus. The Rights team is a team of eight people, and we handle a huge variety of rights across a wide range of genres from US and translation through to film and television and we are defined by both our focus on budgets as well as strong emphasis on author and customer care.
What you’ll be doing
The position available will involve primarily providing administrative support to the Head of Rights for John Murray Press with focus on the specialist lists within that division: Hodder Faith, Nicholas Brealey Books, John Murray Learning and Sheldon Press. The successful candidate will also provide other administrative support to the rest of the department, when required.
The specialist lists publish bestsellers across many categories including Business, Science, Biography, History, Language Learning (under the Michel Thomas and Teach Yourself brands), Travel, Reference (under the Chambers and Brewers brands), Mental Health and many more.
Who we’re looking for
The successful candidate will report to the Head of Rights for John Murray Press and will need to be a team player with an eye for detail. You will demonstrate the ability to use your own initiative and have strong organisational and time-management skills.You will have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively with our customers and in-house colleagues.The successful applicant is likely to have some office experience, preferably in publishing or other media organisations.You will be organised, efficient and able to prioritise your work effectively.
