Senior Designer, Orion

What you’ll be doing

You will be an essential part of the Orion Art department, helping to deliver high quality creative solutions that delight our authors and customers. Focusing on commercial non-fiction, you can also work across broader genres as required. You will work closely with the in-house design team and often commission external photographers, illustrators, and designers, handling the creative process from initial brief to final artwork. Each brief should be carefully managed within budget and publishing schedules. You will collaborate with your stakeholders, communicating effectively to ensure your work aligns with the editorial teams publishing strategy and the sales teams’ routes to market.

Who we are looking for

You will be a talented, passionate, and confident creative able to communicate clearly, who can work with the Art team leads to define a creative strategy for your area of ownership. You will have lots of experience and evidence of high-level execution of commercial non-fiction, whilst showing proficiencies in broader genres, particularly commercial fiction. With a proactive, problem-solving attitude, you will be adept at predicting issues, interpreting feedback, and delivering innovative designs. The role will suit someone who wants to learn and grow in their career through mentorship and exposure to a wide range of design outputs (from literary fiction to gifts). You will have exceptional Adobe Creative Suite skills and an excellent knowledge of the print and digital requirements needed to deliver your designs to the customer.
